So I had an old halogen light as a desk light and it got really annoying. The annoying part was that it was not part of the home automation system. Which would mean getting out of bed if I left it on on accident. I know first world problems right....
Anyway today we were at the local IKEA and I picked up an new lamp and with that a new light bulb. Expecting a TRÅDFRI lightbulb of witch we have several already in our home, I found that it was a newer [KAJPLATS][2] bulb.
Unfortunabtly these are using the new Matter over Thread system, which we do not use in our home. We use the older ZIGBEE system. Not wanting to upgrade all of my lights or using the new bulb in an othe network I searched the internet. There I found a post, which I cannot seem to find now, where it was explained that if you turn the bulb 12 times off and on again it will become a zigbee bulb.
Using the switch to do this did not seem to work. But then I remembered that the timing is important. With the previous TRÅDFRI lightbulbs I found that unscrewing and screwing them back in was the right timing (This kind of makes sense since not all sockets a switchable).
So combining both I found that everything worked. Home assistant found the new zigbee lightbulb without any problem.
